Activities At Our School

Sidmouth Kids Club
Our excellent and very successful Kids Club is open after school each afternoon providing safe, caring after school care and holiday care in a familiar environment, when the school is not in session.

Costs are kept as low as possible as the Kids Club is not a profit making organisation.

Hours during school term are 3pm- 6pm
Holiday hours are 8am -6pm

The club undertakes many interesting and exciting activities and visits.
The staff children ratio is 1:8
Please ask for current charges.


BreakFast Club

A free breakfast club operates every morning for all pupils.

               

Music Lessons
Music lessons in trumpet, violin and flute take place weekly taken by specialist music teachers.

 

Two guitar clubs take place on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Many children go on to take musical exams, perform in assemblies and join orchestras across the city.

Football

Football tournaments are played regularly throughout the year for years 4, 5 and 6, whilst years 5 and 6 play rugby matches in the Spring term.

Coaches from Hull City FC lead training sessions after school during the Autumn and Spring terms.

Indoor football club held on Wednesday evening for Years 3 / 4, and Friday evening for Years 5 / 6.

The girls' football team are currently Hull Schools' F.A. league and cup champions. We also had boys and girls represent the Hull Schools' Representative teams and Hull City's centre of excellence.

            

Environment Club

The school has recently acquired two allotments, one for the school and one for the Kids Club. Sidmouth takes gardening very seriously it has numerous flower beds around the school, and its own sensory garden. The school has previously won both the Wyke In Bloom, and also the Hull in Bloom competition. The school gained silver in the Britain in Bloom Competition. The school holds a planting day in June when the children, parents and the community all spend the day planting and weeding.

 

Fuse Club

Fuse is a Bible Club running on a Wednesday led by the Newland St John's team.

The school takes part in various community events during the year, carol singing at the Newland Avenue Light Switch on and singing and dancing at the Newland Traders Summer Fair.

Computers

The school boasts a state of the art computer suite which has over 20 computers. Each classroom also has its own computer and interative whiteboard. Mr Stephenson a specialist ICT teacher works alongside year 5 and 6 every week to extend their computer skills.

Other Sports Clubs

Other sports clubs such as table tennis, badminton, basketball, dance, hockey and cross country running are held during appropriate terms for all age groups. Cricket is played weekly after school in the Summer terms. Cycling proficiency training takes place during the summer term for year 6.
After introducing many of our children to new sports we then do our best to link with a community club so they continue to develop their skills out of the school environment. Many of our pupils have represented the city/county in many sports.

Spanish

Currently we have a Spanish language assistant who provides Spanish extra curricular groups.

Table Tennis

Table Tennis is the latest craze at Sidmouth. The sport has been so popular that 3 leagues are now being run. The premier league runs on a Wednesday evening, with two other leagues on a Wednesday and a Thursday.  Check the sports noticeboard to check out the latest league positions.

                 

Chess Club

Chess club runs every Thursday lunchtime and is for anyone who is in key stage 2.  This is a very popular club so arrive early.

                 

School Council

The school council meets monthly and is made up of 2 pupils from each key stage 2 class.

                

Scrabble Club

Scrabble Club for Years 1-6 if you are interested in learning to play, see Mr Walker, and spend a Monday or Wednesday lunch time working with words.
